GraffitiWear
Merch design for school community
The Ask
The Japanese Weekend School of New York (JWSNY) sought a new original apparel collection to celebrate its vibrant community and 2025 school year. My challenge was to bridge the school’s mission of nurturing global citizens with the iconic street culture of New York City. I developed a "Graffiti Wear" concept, using bold, hand-drawn typography and symbolic illustrations to represent the layers of learning, friendship, and cultural identity experienced by the students. The result is a dynamic visual identity that transforms school spirit into a wearable piece of New York art.
The Impact
The collection saw an incredible adoption rate, with over 50% of students, faculty, and parents purchasing the gear. On school days, the visual landscape of the campus was completely transformed into a vibrant sea of "Graffiti Wear," creating a powerful sense of unity. This shared identity has significantly bolstered the school’s community spirit, fostering a deep sense of belonging and joy among everyone involved. It wasn't just a product launch; it was a cultural shift that brought the entire JWSNY family closer together.
